FAQs

How long do tastings last?

Generally an hour but it depends on how many people there are and if the event is stand-alone or combined with something like a yoga class, a cocktail hour or a sit-down dinner with pairings.

How many drinks do we taste?

For wine it is usually 6, 3 white and 3 red, but each event can be customized based on budget. We would not recommend less than 4 or more than 6 for wine and not more than 4 for liquor.

How many people can attend?

We have done this for as many as 70 and as few as 8.

How is this different from other tastings?

We offer an interactive event with some fun competition. Participants will “test” their knowledge of wine and spirits in an all levels atmosphere.

You will be introduced to fabulous wines at price points you can afford and leave much savvier than when you came in!

Testimonials

  • “I had the pleasure of working with Cristie for a while, and it was always a breeze. One of my favorite and most memorable events we put together was a blind wine tasting for the female members of the Ridgewood Country Club. Cristie made sure the food paired perfectly with each wine for each course and even set up some fun games for the ladies to make it interactive. Ridgewood has done many wine tastings and dinners, but this one was special. It was the first wine night dedicated to the ladies, and it was also the most attended ladies’ wine dinner to date with 70 ladies signing up! I’m so honored to have had the chance to work with Cristie, and I truly hope to work with her again in the future!”

  • “Cristie helped plan and execute a team building wine tasting event for an important pharmaceutical client. She worked closely with me and the restaurant to curate a fabulous selection of wines that we then tasted and had to guess varietal, region, and price range. Her knowledge of wine and fun facts behind certain varietals made our event engaging, informative, interesting, and entertaining. Team building should always be this good! Cristie is skilled at her craft and was incredibly easy to work with.”

  • OMG. What a fantastic event. Interesting varietals, bargain holiday wines and a surprise victory. Honestly, you crushed it. Great business idea!

  • I wanted to host a ladies night in my new home with a fun twist. I decided to have an Amazing Women and Wine Party and Cristie provided the perfect solution to bring it to life. Since I had women who didn’t all know each other she recommended a fun game that included learning about different wines that also enabled everyone to get to know each other and socialize.

We had a blast and it led to a discovery of some pretty amazing (and reasonable) wines! Cristie did all the leg work including recommending the wine varieties to include that would appeal to everyone. She was so easy to work with, took all the pressure off me and everyone had a blast. Can’t wait to do my next event with Cristie. Highly recommend!

Meet Cristie Woodard, the Founder of Savvy Sips

Welcome! My passion for events, wine and spirits drives me to create unforgettable experiences that bring people together (another passion!).

I am Cristie Woodard and I have been in the events business over 25 years with a vast background which includes wedding planning, corporate team building and working in the world of wine and spirits.

While owning a full-service event company, Plan-it Productions, I worked in customer service for Martin Scott Wines and also repped wines for smaller private distributors. In 2017 I helped open Wolfgang Wine and Spirits (now Vintedge) in Somerville, NJ, where I sold wine, educated the consumer and taught classes for the everyman.

I am now an empty nester and have left the world of hospitality. I am the Events Manager for an NJ non-profit and it is a very fulfilling job that frees up a lot of my time. Enter Savvy Sips. I am excited to share and to grow this new venture with everyone.
